Thanksgiving 2009

Well this Thanksgiving Grant and I did something we've never done before with or without a child. We made the 7-8 hour trip to Nebraska. This was Grant's first time ever there. He seemed to have a good time. My parents took Nolyn up with them since they were leaving before we were and we left after work and drove through the night. So we left around 5:30 Wednesday night and got there about 2-2:30ish Thursday morning. Grant caught up on his movie watching while I drove. He watched, I listened to, GI Joe, Angels and Demons (he had to keep pausing this one and explaining to me what was going on since I never read the book), Transformers 2, Bedtime Stories (This was the only one I actually got to watch), X-Men: Wolverine, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. On the way home we actually had Nolyn. The drive went really well actually. While we were up there we watched a lot of football, played cards and just hung out. On Friday I took Grant to town and showed him a few places, this took all of about 10 mins, that just how small the town is. I showed him the park, the high school and the hospital where I was born. On saturday we started the morning with going to get professional family pictures done. This was for my Grandparents 55th wedding anniversery. My mom had us go ahead and get a family picture done of just the 7 of us because that will be the last time it will just be the 7. After all that we went to Red Cloud and had the Delka Family Thanksgiving. It was good to see everyone since this was the first time in 10 years I've been there for Thanksgiving. Here is a picture from the family Thanksgiving, my family is the ones in red. And let it be known that a lot of the family isnt there so this picture doesnt really do justice to how big the family really is.

The First of Many to Come

Well this was Nolyn's first Halloween. And if you know anything about her you know what she went as... a ladybug. We took her to our Church for Trick or Trunk. She did so good, holding Daddys hand and walking up to the trunks holding out for candy bag. I dont have any pictures from Halloween night but I do have this one of her in her costume.

Also yesterday evening we had Nolyn's birthday party. Her birthday isnt till the 5th but the Saturday after her birthday my Mom was going to be gone on her 3 day walk for Breast Cancer so we couldnt do it then. It was great got lots of toys we dont have room for but it will be ok. Or little girl partied so hard she was passed out by 9:30, but the downside was she was up at 6:30 this morning. But I blame that on daylights savings time. Here are a couple of her 1 yr pictures we had done last weekend. My goodness where did the year go?

Pumpkin Patch and More

Saturday my best friend and I took the kids to the pumpkin patch. I just wanted to go for the pictures since this is Nolyn's first Halloween. Poor girl missed Halloween by 5 days. Since she still is a little young to carve pumpkins we of course didn't get any, but I did get some cute pictures which I will share.

Last Monday I went to the specialist. We didn't get to do the Echo because the way she was laying and no matter what she wasn't going to move. Stubborn child, I wonder where she gets that from? But they did get to check the heart and do measurements. Everything looked good, they guessed her a little ahead of schedule and the Dr did see a SMALL hole in the heart where mine was but its VERY tiny ,this isn't uncommon, and should close up on its own. My heart condition isn't hereditary there is only a 2% chance I would have kids that had it as well. But on the other hand girls are 5 times more likely to have it then boys. So no more going to the specialist, YAY!

Ok here are the pictures I promised.

Where does the Time Go?

Goodness Nolyn is almost 11 months old now and I'm almost 6 months pregnant with Camryn. Seems like just yesterday we were bringing Nolyn home from the hospital. We have reached the "fun" stage. Nolyn says "dada" and "bye bye" a lot, but its funny because if you try and get her to say it she refuses. What do you expect with 2 stubborn parents? Shes also starting to try and walk. She's taken a few steps here and there and stands on her own from time to time but nothing for sure yet.

Everything with Camryn is going great so far. Well great besides the consent back pain and leg cramps. My Dr and myself are very happy with how everything is going since this one could be much more difficult. I still go to the Dr every 2 weeks and have sonos each time, and I dont see that changing anytime soon. I also go next month and do the fetal echo on Camryn. This is very important with this baby being a girl, because girls are 5 times more likely to have the heart problem I was born with then boys. Also if I can make it 6 more weeks with no complications I get to go to Nebraska for Thanksgiving.

Ok, I think thats enough for today. I'm going to end this with a few new pictures of Nolyn.

What do you expect I was born in Nebraska and
all my Dads family still lives there.

This picture was taken 2 days after her
1st fat lip crawling to fast.Don't worry I didn't pull and Britney Spears the car was parked and off.
But this is how she spent her time while we were getting her carseat
moved into the truck to go see my Grandparents.

Anniversary

Yesterday Grant and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary. When I got home with Nolyn I went to put her in her crib for a nap and noticed my bedroom light was on. Took and quick glance and Grant us new bedding. The bed now looks like a grown up sleeps in that bed. Next Sunday Grant and I are doing my gift for the anniversary. We're going to get massages. We both need them really bad so I knew it would be great. Then afterwards were going to eat at Razoo's. It will be a great day. But I have to say the greatest gift of the day was getting a name for baby #2. As I said yesterday we just found out its a girl. Her name will be... (drum roll please)

CAMRYN GRACE STOGDILL
It just fits so well with Nolyn Joy.

We're Having a...

Ok so the picture is a little hard to see so here you go. Looks as if were having another GIRL.
Grant and I are working on names but this time its much harder and we cant agree on any. Hopefully soon she'll have a name so I can start getting stuff for her room.

New Baby News

I went to the Dr. Tuesday and everything looks great with the baby. I got to hear the heartbeat and it was good and strong. Then he sent me back to do another sono and scheduled to come back in two weeks to do it all again. For those who know you usually go back every four weeks in the 1st and 2nd trimesters, but I had a LEEP done right before I found out I was pregnant again. So because of this we have to keep a close eye on everything to make sure things dont turn bad. I was already a high risk with having PCOS and now even higher with the LEEP. Only I would have to most annoying, but easiest pregnancies. But the good news is that I get to see baby a lot, and that I love. So I thought I would end this with a couple of the sono pictures. Enjoy.

This is baby at 8 weeks. Looks like a Gummy Bear.

This is at 13 weeks, no more looking like a Gummy Bear.

Work and Baby News

Well I have survived my first protest season. And after this baby is born I'll be back to work just in time to start next years. So far I'm enjoying my job. It just stinks I'm so tired all the time, but only a couple more weeks of that. I'm now 11 weeks pregnant with #2 and needless to say I do not enjoy being pregnant. But the good news is that I'm getting it over with soon because after this one I'm done, REALLY done. Grant and I are having a hard time agreeing on names this time around. Which makes me happy that we start so early thinking about it, but frustrated because it was so easy the first time. I go to the Dr in a couple of weeks for my 4 week check up. And I also know that I need to get some new pictures of Nolyn up on here. Well that's all for now at least just a short update while I'm doing nothing at work.

Big News

Well a lot has been going on here at the Stogdill House. My new job is going great. So far very easy and great money. Nolyn has been enjoying her babysitter which is great as well. Nolyn is now crawling all over the place and pulling up on almost everything. This just means she's now getting into trouble.

The other news at the Stogdill house is that Nolyn's going to be a big sister in late January early February. You heard right we're expecting again. Trust us this one was a big shock, and completely unplanned. But everything happens for a reason, and for a reason we may not understand right now God planned this for us. Tomorrow I will be 10 weeks so Im very close to being out of the first trimester which I cant wait for.

Thats all the new news for now. We'll do our best to keep everyone updated.

Lots Going On

Ok, its been a while since I've posted so I've got a lot to put into this one but I'll cut out a lot. Well to start things off I got a new job that is great. I now work for Denton County so I have a good job with good benefits. This couldn't of come at a better time. So Nolyn has started back at the babysitter. This time we got a different one then we used last time. She seems to enjoy it. We took Nolyn to the little zoo and park here in Gainesville a couple of Sundays ago. Of course she really didn't care much about the zoo but she liked the park. I've included some pictures from it. We also took Nolyn to the lake for the first time the other day. She had a blast in the water. That was the first of many trips. The day after I started my job, that I cant take off for 6 months, Nolyn went to the specialist in Ft. Worth, so Grant took her. There is a first time for everything. Everything went well and we go back in 3 months, hopefully for the last time. We that's all I can think of at the moment. So enjoy the pictures and hopefully if wont take so long for me to post again.

How Fast They Grow

Nolyn is now 6 months old and has something new to show everyday. I love watching her grow and discover the world around her. She has started holding her bottle, dinking from a sippy cup, and sitting better by herself. Here are some new pictures of her, they were taken with my phone so that explains why they are not the greatest quality. The last picture is Grants favorite.

Busy, Busy, Busy

That doesn't even start to explain it these days. This weekend Nolyn and I went with my parents and sister Kellie to my other sisters Regional Track meet in Palestine, TX. It was Nolyn's first REAL trip. She did really well to my surprise. I really don't know why this shocks me because shes such a good baby. Once we got to the meet she just hung out under the tents in the shade. She got in 2 VERY short naps and still was never fussy. I don't know how we got such a great baby but we're lucky.

While we were gone Grant stayed home to work and remodel our bathroom. The house we are in is very old and very outdated so we're (well Grant is) fixing it up. Its looking so really good. Can't wait for it to all be done. Maybe when its done I'll post some pictures of it. Well the electrician will be here soon, just wanted to get a little bit of an update on us.

A Busy Couple of Weeks

Well I finally got a job. It only took 4 1/2 months. I work in a Chiropractic Office as a CA. So for the last 2 weeks Nolyn has been going to a babysitter. She has been doing so well. The lady who is watching her is the same lady who watched Grants brothers when they were little. So least I know she is in good hands. Tomorrow Nolyn will be 5 months and we will be having Christening at Church. I'll be sure to put up pictures when we get them. Both our families will be there as well as my best friend/ Nolyn's Godmother and her family. So we have a pretty big group which is great.

Splish Spash

Noyln LOVES bathtime. She always splashing, but as of last night she started splashing really crazy. She was doing it again tonight while Grant was giving her a bath so I had to get a video of it. Its very cute and Grant and I laugh pretty hard at her, but we held it in during the video. Thank God I have a baby that loves the water. Now I cant wait till summer and we get to go to the lake.

One year ago today Grant and I found out we were expecting our little Nolyn. I can remember the day like I it was yesterday. First thing I did was go to the bank and opened up our savings account. I was talking to a friend of ours after I was done telling her how I had been feeling myself the last couple of days. She tells me I need to go to wal mart and get a test. My reponse was I didnt need that I wasnt pregnant, but promised to go get one. When I went to wal mart I got the 3 pack. When I got home I read the insturctions and took the first test. It said wait 5 minutes for results, it took less then 1. I called Grant and told the news, but said I was taking another test later to be sure. Before I could take the 2nd test Grant was already spreading the news. He did get into some trouble for it because I thought we would do it together.

Now our little lady is 4 months old. She's now 14lbs and thinks everything is funny. She smiles and laughs A LOT. She's also found her feet and love to hold on to them. She also sucks on her hands, and its very loud. She has also has figured out how to turn on her crib soother. I know a 4 month old shouldnt be able to do it but she turns it on and off with those crazy feet of hers.

Cook's Hospital part 2

Well yesterday I took Nolyn back down for more test. After we checked in they called Nolyn back to the prep room. Here they gave her an IV, which she took like a champ, and was giving a catheter. Of course she cried, but as soon as she wasn't being held down she was laughing, smiling, and talking up a storm. Next we went into a room to do the test. They put her on a table then under a scanner for an hour. They took over 200 pictures to see how both kidneys were functioning. They want to make sure both kidneys are doing there share of work, making sure its 50/50. Hers are working 54/46 which is still in the good range. So our next step is an ultrasound in 3 months, then 3 months after that we run the same test that we did yesterday. So that's all we know as of now. All I know is Nolyn is such a brave girl to go though all that, of course she wont remember any of this, which is good thing.

Doctor News

Well Tuesday Grant and I took Nolyn to her Urologist appointment. Dr Pinto went over her test results and here is what we found out. She could have 1 of 3 things. 1) was reflux, which was ruled out with the test done last month, 2) is a pinch where her kidney and ureter attach, 3) is there is nothing wrong just one kidney is bigger then the other. So on Tuesday we go back to Cook's at 10am to run more test to see if its issue #2 or #3. Then we see Dr Pinto at 2:30 to get the results.

After the Doctors Tuesday we headed to Collinsville to watch Kaila's last basketball game. It was a sad night. Between the girls game and the boys game they honored the seniors and there the parents. So the Senior presented there parents with roses. Well Kaila gave both my parents each a rose and one to me. Since Nolyn's been born her and I have pretty much made all her games. Like I've said before my sisters mean the world to me. I'm lucky to have such wonderful sisters. At the game we also got to see Kellie, my other sister, who we haven't seen in a long time since track season has started and she's gone every weekend. So even though it was a sad night it was a great one as well. So I will keep everyone posted after our appointment Tuesday.

Cook's Hospital

Yesterday I had to take Nolyn to Cook's Children's Hospital to do the test to find out about her kidney. First we did an ultrasound, which she actually enjoyed. Then after that we went to do some xrays. This is where things got bad. They had to stick a tube into her bladder and inject a liquid in it so it would show up on the xray. You think the first shot screams are bad, they had nothing on the scream she let out yesterday. Poor girl, and I was helpless, I had to hold her arms down so they could get the xrays. So now we wait and go to the specialist on Feb 10th.

Milestones

Here is a video of Nolyn rolling over. She has been doing this for about 2 weeks now we just was never able to get a video of it. So now that we have one I thought I would share.

Nolyn will be 11 weeks tomorrow, goodness how time flies. Tomorrow we have our first visit to Cook's Children's Hospital . We're doing an ultrasound on her right kidney, the one that was enlarged. So I have to wake up really early tomorrow to go down there. I dont think tomorrow we'll know anything new until the 10th, thats when we see the specialist.

New Addition

Well last night I got the phone call from my mom that my cousin Chris's wife Gaye had her baby, a little girl. They already have 2 boys and were really hoping for a girl this time. So now the Delka clan has 2 new born little girls, now were just waiting on little Kieston (due date Jan 17 to my cousin Troy and his wife Tammy) and Aiden (due Jan 22 to my cousin Bret, Troy's brother, and his wife Ryane), I hope I spelled both of those right, to get here. Wow that is 4 girls in 2 1/2 months. This makes 5 babies born into the Delka family in the last 12 months. How fast our family grows, but what do you expect when our Dads/Grandpas are 1 of 11 kids (8 boys 3 girls). Now you see why everyone is cousins not 1st, 2nd ect. Were MUCH to big for that, and also to close.

In other news, here are a few new pictures of Nolyn. Nolyn is a BIG tummy time baby. She hates to lay on here back. So because of this she picks her head up VERY well. The first couple of pictures are of her at 9 weeks. Then after that is her on her changing table. She LOVES her changing table. Every time shes on it she is ALL smiles, as you can see. The ones after that is were taken last night during our bedtime routine. Grant does the nighttime feeding and reads Nolyn a book afterwards, then 15-30 minutes later its off to bed. This allows me time to wash and make bottles and get some other stuff done that I need to do. It seems to be working very well for us. It gives me some free time and some great bonding time for Grant.

First shots are now over

Well Monday Nolyn had her first shots. She was a champ. She cried for a couple of seconds but she was better after I picked her up. After the shots I took her to my sister so I could go to my interview. I'm guessing it went well because I got called back for a second interview Friday. So now Grant and I have to find childcare if I'm going back to work. We're working on it just wish us luck. At the Doctors visit we found out that Nolyn is now 9lbs 14 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. Goodness she is getting big. Yesterday she was a little fussy from the shots. So fussy that last night she didn't go to bed till 1 this morning. Hopefully tonight she'll do better.

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Oh how fast they grow

I cant believe it Nolyn is now 8 weeks old. Now mommy has to find a job because my vacation is over. Although taking care of a newborn is far from a vacation, but it is a lot of fun most days. I cant believe how big she is getting. We go Monday for her shots, then that afternoon I have a job interview. Wish me luck because I REALLY want this job. Its a great opportunity for me, and the icing on the cake is that I get to work with my best friend again. Ok, enough about me and back to Nolyn. She is lifting her head up while laying on her tummy now. She's been doing this for about a week now. And on Christmas Eve she laughed for the first time. These days she is all smiles unless its feeding time.

On a different note January 21st we have to go to Cooke's Hospital for another ultrasound on Nolyn. For those who dont know Nolyn was born with an enlarged kidney. We found it when I was 19 weeks pregnant with her. Although it doesnt seem to bother her we have to keep an eye on it. Then on February 10th we see Dr. Pinto a Urologist to see what the ultrasound found and what we are going to have to do for it. So I will keep all updated on what we find out.

Here are a couple of pictures of Nolyn lifting her head. She's such a big girl.
